2024 Shanghai Polytechnic University Global Partnership Week

(School of Art and Design) Event Review    

Recently, our school had the honor to invite Mr. Ronald, a famous designer from Holland, and Mr. Tsuyamune Iijima, the founder of KUMO Co., Ltd. and a first-class registered architect from Japan, to come to our school to give academic lectures on the theme. Dean Shen Fa, teaching assistant Zou Tao Tao, and some professional teachers attended this academic activity. The activity was hosted by Mr. Zou Tao Tao.

Mr. Ronald's keynote speech focused on how to integrate different disciplines, such as technology and biology, into Education. He emphasized the importance of fostering interdisciplinary thinking at the university level, where students from different backgrounds should work together, understand each other, and look at problems from different perspectives in order to develop new insights and perceptions. He emphasized that education is closely related to nature and biology should be an integral part of Education.

Mr. Ronald also shared the theme of SENSE THE CITY: KEEPING THE SOCIAL FABRIC ALIVE in Associate Professor Zou Tao Tao's postgraduate course, Public Space Design, in which he introduced in detail the innovative practices and planning and design concepts of the city construction in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He introduced in detail the innovative practices and planning design concepts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands in urban construction, emphasized the concept of harmonious symbiosis between architecture and nature, i.e., in the process of designing, constructing and using buildings, respecting, adapting to and protecting nature, and committing to realizing the symbiosis between human beings and the natural environment, and introduced how to skillfully integrate the history and modernity in urban planning to create both beautiful and practical urban spaces.

Mr. Iijima's lecture will focus on the curatorial story of A Tribute to the Earth at the Pearl Art Museum in Shanghai, discussing the importance of the earth element in culture and modern urban construction, and the new direction of its application in the future development of cities. Mr. Iijima has a wealth of experience and unique insights into the culture of earth elements and the construction of modern cities. He pointed out that, in the face of accelerating urbanization, the integration of earth elements, as an important part of traditional culture, with modern urban construction has become a matter of great concern.

Shen Fa expressed his sincere thanks to the two foreign designers for their wonderful speeches and looked forward to more international exchanges and cooperation in the future. On the scene of the event, teachers and students actively engaged in interactive exchanges. After the event, he also had in-depth talks with the two foreign designers on the next step of exchange and cooperation.

This academic activity of International Exchange is also the special session of School of Art and Design of International Exchange for the Global Partnership Week of the University, which attracted a lot of active participation of teachers and students in the school and drew a lot of attention.
